The Gasoline Alley Farmers’ Market is opening on Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd November from 9am – 5pm. The soft opening of the market will have more than 40 small businesses from Central Alberta, with even more to come.
We’re located at 558 Laura Avenue, on the intersection of Lantern Street and Laura Avenue. Our market is the first purpose-built indoor farmers’ market the province has ever seen. The building is an impressive 25,000 square feet, with tall ceilings and a bright, spacious interior. We been focussed on creating a family-friendly and comfortable space for the community.
Jim Wood, Mayor of Red Deer County, is thrilled to see the new farmers’ market opening in Gasoline Alley and says, “This is another way for local producers to share their products with those who live and work here. I hope this market becomes a fixture in Gasoline Alley for many, many years.”
We are proud to host a line-up of vendors from all over Central Alberta, supplying local, healthy and seasonal food all year round. You’ll be able to buy locally grown fruit and vegetables, meat and poultry, baked goods, freshly roasted coffee and much more. Whether you are buying groceries or shopping for a unique gift, there’s plenty for everyone. As an Alberta approved farmers’ market, 80% of all products for sale at the market are made, baked and grown in Alberta.
Andrew Wiebe of the Gasoline Alley Farmers’ Market Society says, “The Gasoline Alley Farmers’ Market is going to be a wonderful place to spend a few hours over the weekend. It’s exciting to see so many local producers and vendors coming together to create a year-round destination where Central Albertans can shop for Alberta-grown foods and Alberta-made goods even during the winter!”
We are planning a year-round event schedule including workshops, art classes and tours. The north end of the building dubbed ‘The Market Kitchen’ has a number of small restaurants, a space for private functions and Red Deer’s newest brewery and taproom – Craft Beer Commonwealth. On tap will be seasonal rotating beers as well as beers from your favourite Central Alberta breweries. Craft Beer Commonwealth is still under construction and they anticipate opening before the end of the year.
